Privacy policy
Chat Sumo is built by SimplySea Labs (run by Kaushik S Gatti). The short version: your chat never leaves your device. We read it inside your browser, turn it into numbers for your cards, and never upload it.
What happens to your chat
- When you pick an exported chat file, your browser reads it on your device. The file and its messages are never sent to us or anyone else.
- Only the results are kept so you can come back to your cards: numbers such as message counts, participants’ names, top emoji and, for the “silent era” card, the first few words of the message that ended the longest silence (under 30 characters).
- These numbers are saved in your browser’s local storage for up to 7 days. Use “Delete this wrap from this phone” to remove them at any time.
- Participants’ phone numbers are masked on cards, because cards are made to be shared.
What reaches our servers
- Payments. When you unlock cards, we start a checkout with Dodo Payments (Razorpay for payments from India) and receive the order or checkout ID, payment ID, amount, currency and payment status. Your card, UPI or bank details go directly to the payment provider; we never see them, and we don’t store the name or email you give at checkout.
- Your country, roughly. To show the right price we use the country your hosting network reports, or your device’s time zone. We don’t store it.
- Anonymous usage counts. We count which steps people reach (for example “opened the paywall”). These events have no names, no device IDs and no chat content.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider processes IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don’t keep IP addresses in our own logs.
Cookies and trackers
We don’t use cookies, advertising trackers or third-party analytics. Local storage holds your saved wrap and your light or dark preference.
Payment providers
Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for purchases it handles: it sells the unlock to you, processes the payment and takes care of sales tax. Its privacy policy applies to the details you give it at checkout: dodopayments.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Razorpay Software Private Limited processes payments for us. Its privacy policy applies to the details you give it at checkout: razorpay.com/privacy.
Other people in your chat
Your chat includes messages from other people. Because the chat is processed only on your device, we never receive their messages. Please only wrap chats you are part of, and think about the people in a card before you share it.
Children
Chat Sumo is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and rights
You can delete your saved wrap from your device at any time. For questions about payment records we hold, or to exercise your rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or other applicable law, write to support@simplysealabs.com. This address also serves as our grievance contact, and we reply within 7 days.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
